Honoring Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten Season....
In the snow and cold, I, along with Gathering Staff, offered people ashes in their cars. Struck by the dichotomy of ashes from burned palms and the frigid cold, water turned to ice as snowflakes, we shared that from dust you came and to dust you will return.
I reflected afterwards about the Jesus in the wilderness experiencing temptation, obstacles, roadblocks and what we can learn about going into the wilderness this season. Mind you, the wilderness is a spiritual space and it is a cultural, political space I feel today - a place of bewilderment.
Be encouraged and resolute as we journey with Jesus these next 40 days.
